Patrice-Edouard Ngaïssona makes first appearance before the ICC

On 25 January 2019, Patrice-Edouard Ngaïssona appeared before Pre-Trial Chamber II of the International Criminal Court ("ICC" or "Court"), at the seat of the ICC in The Hague (The Netherlands).

Pre-Trial Chamber II is composed of Judge Antoine Kesia‐Mbe Mindua, Presiding, Judge Tomoko Akane and Judge Rosario Salvatore Aitala. The hearing was held in the presence of the Prosecutor and the Defence. Mr Ngaïssona was represented by his Counsel Mr Eric Plouvier.

Pre-Trial Chamber II is composed of Judge Antoine Kesia‐Mbe Mindua, Presiding, Judge Tomoko Akane and Judge Rosario Salvatore Aitala.

Patrice-Edouard Ngaïssona transferred to ICC for alleged crimes against humanity and war crimes

Today, 23 January 2019, Mr Patrice-Edouard Ngaïssona was transferred to the International Criminal Court ("ICC" or "Court") in The Hague, The Netherlands, by the authorities of the French Republic pursuant to an ICC arrest warrant for crimes against humanity and war crimes allegedly committed in the Central African Republic ("CAR"). This transfer followed the completion of necessary national proceedings in France, where he was arrested on 12 December 2018.

On Wednesday, 12 December, I welcomed the arrest of the second suspect resulting from our investigation in the Central African Republic ("CAR") since August 2012. Mr Patrice-Edouard Ngaissona's arrest follows Mr Alfred Yekatom's arrest and surrender to the International Criminal Court (the "Court" or "ICC") in November of this year.

I welcome the arrest of the suspect, Mr Patrice-Edouard Ngaïssona, this morning in France. He is the second suspect arrested in the context of my Office's ongoing investigations concerning all parties to the conflict in the Central African Republic ("CAR"). His arrest follows Mr Alfred Yekatom's surrender to the International Criminal Court ("ICC" or "Court") in mid-November.

Situation in Central African Republic II: Patrice-Edouard Ngaïssona arrested for crimes against humanity and war crimes

Today, 12 December 2018, Mr Patrice-Edouard Ngaïssona has been arrested by the authorities of the French Republic pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by Pre-Trial Chamber II of the International Criminal Court ("ICC" or "Court").

The ICC Registrar, Mr Peter Lewis, submitted a request to the French authorities for the arrest and surrender of Mr Ngaïssona to the Court upon completion of necessary national proceedings.

On 23 November 2018, Alfred Yekatom appeared before Pre-Trial Chamber II of the International Criminal Court ("ICC" or "Court"), at the seat of the ICC in The Hague (The Netherlands).

Pre-Trial Chamber II is composed of Judge Antoine Kesia‐Mbe Mindua, Presiding, Judge Tomoko Akane and Judge Rosario Salvatore Aitala. The hearing was held in the presence of the Prosecutor and the Defence. Mr Yekatom was represented by the Office of Public Counsel for the Defence.
