Dr Agnieszka Jachec-Neale is the Director of the Exeter Centre of International law at the University of Exeter. She is an expert researcher, lecturer and practitioner on international law and in particular, on how it is applied during and after armed conflict. At the University of Exeter, she teaches in the Law School, but also to non-lawyers, in the MSc in Strategy and MSc in Extreme Medicine programs. She has worked in south-eastern Europe, monitoring domestic war crimes trials and applying human rights standards in emerging democracies, gathered field experience during the Kosovo crisis and in post-war Croatia with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), and managed and implemented major projects in the fields of international humanitarian law and international human rights. This includes working on the OSCE Legislationline.org project, and supporting the work of the Croatian Ombudsman. She also conducted research at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law and in the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House).
In 2014, Dr. Jachec-Neale authored "The Concept of Military Objectives in International Law and Targeting Practice," a book used as a teaching support for IHL and Military Law courses in multiple law schools. Dr Jachec-Neale has served as a research fellow for the British Institute of International and Comparative Law and currently teaches at Exeter University's Law School. She continues to present papers at conferences and workshops around the world, including at the American Society of International Law, the International Society of Military Law, and the Bruges Colloquium on International Humanitarian Law.
