Côte d'Ivoire

In Focus

The Côte d'Ivoire Country Office has been focused on conducting activities with victims, civil society, students and secondary school children as well as the legal community in all 31 regions in Cote d’Ivoire. The main topics include the mandate and jurisdiction of the Court, Côte d’Ivoire situation and the case of Laurent Gbagbo and Charles Blé Goudé.

Outreach is also focusing on legacy – consulting with partners on future ICC-related projects.

In 2022, the country office in Côte d’Ivoire conducted 11 outreach information sessions using different information tools and materials in areas that had not previously been visited. Approximately 5,000 people were informed about the Court’s operating mechanisms and the acquittal decision in the case of Laurent Gbagbo and Charles Blé Goudé.

The presence of the “Outreach Caravan” was an opportunity to meet for the first time with the local communities, provide information about the Court and its functioning, answer questions and address any misconceptions about the acquittal decision.

By the end of the year, the country office had achieved its goal of meeting and engaging with interested professionals and the general public in all 31 regions of Côte d’Ivoire.
