Introduction to the ICC: International Criminal Court launches new educational video series in French and Spanish
On 25 January 2023, the International Criminal Court (ICC) launched a new series of 15 videos in French and Spanish, in which experts of the Court and of the Assembly of States Parties Secretariat develop key themes on the study of International Criminal Law (ICL) and the ICC. Topics include the creation of the ICC, the general principles of individual criminal responsibility, the crimes under the Rome Statute, the cooperation of States, the rights of victims and defendants, preliminary examinations and investigations, among others. These new videos are available on the ICC website and on its YouTube Channel.
These videos will be useful tools for the legal and academic community and other public interested in enhancing knowledge of ICL and of the particularities of the Rome Statute system. Each of the sessions can also be used independently to complement a learning process or to delve deeper into a particular topic of interest.
This project joins other initiatives of the ICC to create and promote tools and platforms for the legal and academic community. This project was made possible thanks to the financial support of the European Commission and the French Embassy in The Hague.

El 25 de enero de 2023, la Corte Penal Internacional (CPI) lanzó “La Corte en síntesis”, una nueva serie de 15 videos en francés y español, en los que expertos de la Corte y de la Secretaría de la Asamblea de los Estados Partes desarrollan temas clave sobre el Derecho Penal Internacional (DPI) y la CPI. Estos temas incluyen la creación de la CPI, los principios generales de atribución de responsabilidad penal individual, los crímenes previstos en el Estatuto de Roma, la cooperación de los Estados, los derechos de las víctimas y de los acusados, exámenes e investigaciones preliminares, entre otros. Estos nuevos videos están disponibles en el sitio web de la CPI y en su canal de YouTube.
Estos videos serán herramientas útiles para la comunidad jurídica y académica y otras audiencias interesadas en fomentar el conocimiento sobre el DPI y las particularidades del sistema del Estatuto de Roma. Cada una de las sesiones puede también ser utilizada de forma independiente para complementar un proceso de aprendizaje o profundizar sobre un tema de interés en particular.
Este proyecto se suma a otras iniciativas de la CPI para crear y promover herramientas y plataformas para la comunidad jurídica y académica. Este proyecto se realizó gracias al apoyo financiero de la Comisión Europea y de la Embajada de Francia en La Haya.
