"My childhood dream was to become a medical worker"

Back at home, Paul keeps a diary about what happened throughout the day.

It is a record of what he has planted, invested, and sold at the local market in Odek, and of his plans for tomorrow, the coming week, the future.

"My childhood dream was to become a medical worker," Paul says.

"If it were not for the abduction, I might have been one already."

When we spoke to him at the end of 2019, Paul had finally done it: he started a 3-year programme of study in Gulu's nursing school. Despite everything, he pursued his dreams.
