Election of a Representative of Counsel included in the List of counsel to the Advisory Committee on Legal Texts

We are pleased to inform you of the results of the recent election of a representative of counsel from the list of counsel of the Court to the Advisory Committee on Legal Texts (“ACLT” or “Advisory Committee”).

The mandate of the ACLT is defined in regulation 4, sub-regulation 4, of the Regulations of the Court (“RoC”), stipulating that the Advisory Committee “shall consider and report” on proposals for amendments to the Court’s core legal texts, thereby submitting a written report containing its recommendations, or on “any matter referred to it by the Presidency”.

On 4 October 2024, the election process was initiated in accordance with regulation 3 of the Regulations of the Registry. All the 1022 counsel on the List of Counsel by that date were called upon to announce their candidacy before 4 November 2024. Twenty eight persons submitted their candidacy within the deadline indicated heretofore. On 8 November 2024, the list of candidates and the relevant instructions were sent to the List of Counsel, informing counsel that they should receive an email containing their unique credentials and an access link to the voting page to cast their vote for one of the candidates within thirty calendar days. These emails with unique credentials and the access link to vote were sent on 12 November 2024.

The votes received by the end of the deadline on 12 December 2024 were expressed as follows:

The elected candidate is thus PROULX, Marie-Hélène. In accordance with regulation 4(1) of the RoC and regulation 3 of the RoR, PROULX, Marie-Hélène, shall serve as a representative of counsel included in the Court’s List of Counsel to the ACLT for a period of three years.
