Chris Dolan - Sexual Violence Against Men and Boys in Conflict

Guest lecture:

Chris Dolan obtained his PhD from the London School of Economics in 2005. He is a leading  activist, practitioner and academic on the issue of conflict-related sexual violence against men. His insights into gender, sexuality and conflict are grounded in extensive work with refugees and IDPs and other conflict-affected populations in South Africa, Mozambique, DRC and Uganda. He has also been closely involved in the struggle for LGBTI rights in east Africa, both as Chair of the Steering Committee of the Civil Society Coalition on Human Rights and Constitutional law – the Coalition that challenged and saw the overthrow of the Anti-Homosexuality Act in Uganda's Constitutional Court in August 2014, and as a board member of UHAI, the primary funding body for LGBTI organising in the region. The Refugee Law Project in Kampala, which Chris directs, was suspended by the Office of the Prime Minister for ten months (March 2014 – January 2015) as a result for its support to LGBTI rights.
