Prof. Terry Gill: "Peacekeeping Operations: Legal Basis, Use of Force and Legal Status"

Guest lecture:

​Prof. Terry Gill is a Professor of Military Law at the University of Amsterdam and at the Netherlands Defence Academy. He teaches courses in International Humanitarian Law, International Law of Military Operations and Use of Force and Collective Security. He is also the Director of the Research Programme “Role of Law in Armed Conflict and Peace Operations” within the Amsterdam Centre for International Law (ACIL), and Chairman of the Research Forum “LACPO” (Law of Armed Conflict & Peace Operations). Prof. Gill is a board member of the International Society of Military Law and the Law of War, the Lieber Society & American Society of International Law, the Netherlands Society of International Law, and the International Law Association, where he is chairman of a Study Group on the Conduct of Hostilities. He is also a member of the Advisory Council on Matters of Public International Law to the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Editor in Chief of the Yearbook of International Humanitarian Law and a member of the editorial boards of the Journal Of Conflict and Security Law and the Journal of International  Peacekeeping, Prof. Gill has published widely on matters of military law and international humanitarian law.
