Prof. Leila Sadat: "Interpreting Article 25 of the Rome Statute: Emerging Divisions at the International Criminal Court"

Prof. Leila Sadat is the Henry H. Oberschelp Professor of Law at Washington University School of Law and Director of the Whitney R. Harris World Law Institute. She is the Director of the Crimes Against Humanity Initiative, a multi-year project to study the problem of crimes against humanity and draft a comprehensive convention addressing their punishment and prevention. Prof. Sadat teaches public international law, international criminal law and human rights and in 2011 she held the Alexis de Tocqueville Distinguished Fulbright Chair in Paris, France. In 2012 Prof. Sadat was elected to membership on the Council on Foreign Relations, and holds or has held leadership positions in professional associations and learned societies, including the International Law Association (American Branch), the International Association of Penal Law (AIDP), the American Law Institute, the American Society of International Law, the American Society of Comparative Law and the International Law Students Association. She holds graduate law degrees from Columbia University School of Law and the University of Paris I, and is admitted to the bar in both Paris and Louisiana. She has published widely on international criminal law, human rights, and terrorism. In December 2012 she was appointed by Madam Prosecutor as Special Adviser to the OTP on Crimes Against Humanity.
