Dr. Cedric Ryngaert: “Prosecute or Extradite? The ICJ Decision in the Habré Case”

Guest lecture:

Dr. Cedric Ryngaert is an Associate Professor of International Law at Leuven University and Utrecht University. He is currently also a guest lecturer at the Royal Military Academy Brussels, Kent University Brussels, Hasselt University, Thomas More (Lessius) University College Antwerp, and Université de Liège. In 2012, Dr. Ryngaert won the five-yearly Henri Rolin prize (international law and international relations) for his work on jurisdiction (published with Oxford University Press 2008). Since 2013 he is a member of the Young Academy (Jonge Academie) of the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and Arts (Koninklijke Vlaamse Academie van België voor Wetenschappen en Kunsten), as well as Session Director of the Belgian Study Centre for Military Law and the Law of War. He is also co-rapporteur of the International Law Association Committee on non-state actors, and editor of Human Rights and International Legal Discourse, Revue belge de droit international, Netherlands International Law Review, and Utrecht Law Review. He coordinates the Oxford Reports on International Law in Domestic Courts for Belgium, and has published widely on matters of international law.
