Newly elected ICC judge Geoffrey A. Henderson to be sworn in on 12 December 2013

A swearing-in ceremony for the new judge of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Geoffrey Henderson will be held on Thursday, 12 December 2013, at 11:00 (The Hague local time) in Courtroom I at the seat of the Court in The Hague (Netherlands). Judge Geoffrey Henderson (Trinidad and Tobago) was elected during the twelfth session of the Assembly of States Parties (ASP) to the Rome Statute in November 2013.

Judge Geoffrey Henderson will take the public oath declaring: “I solemnly undertake that I will perform my duties and exercise my powers as a judge of the International Criminal Court honourably, faithfully, impartially and conscientiously, and that I will respect the confidentiality of investigations and prosecutions and the secrecy of deliberations”.

Judge Geoffrey Henderson was elected by the ASP with a term that will run until 10 March 2021. He was elected to fill a vacancy resulting from the 18 March 2013 resignation of Judge Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona (Trinidad and Tobago), following his election as President of Trinidad and Tobago.
