New ICC Registrar to be sworn in on 5 April 2023: Practical information

A swearing-in Ceremony for the new Registrar of the International Criminal Court ("ICC" or the "Court"), Osvaldo Zavala Giler, will be held on Wednesday 5 April 2023 at 10:30 (The Hague time) in Courtroom I at the Seat of the Court in The Hague, The Netherlands.

Mr Zavala Giler (Ecuador) was elected as ICC Registrar by the judges of the Court for a period of five years on 10 February 2023. He will succeed Mr Peter Lewis (United Kingdom), whose mandate ends on 16 April 2023.

Mr Zavala Giler will take a public oath of office in accordance with article 45 of the Rome Statute. H.E. Kateřina Sequensová, Vice-President of the Assembly of States Parties and Judge Piotr Hofmański, ICC President, will also deliver remarks at the Ceremony.
