Two new ICC judges to be sworn in on 20 January, 2010

On Wednesday 20 January, 2010, two new judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) elected by the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute in November last year, shall make a solemn undertaking in open court to exercise their functions impartially and conscientiously. The ceremony will start at 10.30 a.m. at the seat of the Court in The Hague.

The new judges to be sworn in are:

  • Ms Silvia FERNÁNDEZ DE GURMENDI (Argentina);
  • Ms Kuniko OZAKI (Japan).

Later in the day a plenary will be held in which the new judges will be assigned to the judicial divisions.
