The Trust Fund for Victims will hold a press conference following the Fourth Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors in The Hague

The Chair of the Trust Fund for Victims (TFV), Madame Minister Simone Veil, will hold a press conference on the occasion of their Fourth Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors. It will be held at the International Criminal Court (ICC) Headquarters in The Hague on Thursday, 22 November 2007 at 12.00.

Journalists wishing to attend the press conference are advised to arrive 30 minutes beforehand at the Headquarters main entrance. They must present a valid press card.

Background

The Board of Directors is meeting to, amongst other things, review the state of execution of current TFV projects and to define priorities for 2008. It consists of the following members, elected by the Assembly of the States Parties:

Madame Minister Simone Veil, Chair of the Board of Directors, His Grace, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, H.E. Mr Tadeusz Mazowiecki, H.E. Mr Arthur N.R. Robinson and H.E. Mr Bulgaa Altangerel.

The TFV is operating in some of the situations currently under investigation by the Court namely the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. It is devoted to advocating for and assisting the most vulnerable victims harmed as a result of the commission of crimes within the jurisdiction of the ICC. These crimes are genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes.
