ICC President concludes official visit to Ireland

On 2 July 2025, the President of the International Criminal Court (“ICC”), Judge Tomoko Akane, visited Dublin, Ireland, to meet with Irish authorities.
The President met with the Tánaiste, Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Minister of Defence, H.E. Mr Simon Harris. She expressed the ICC’s appreciation for Ireland’s strong and principled commitment to upholding international law and the international rules-based order. The Tánaiste reaffirmed the steadfast support of Ireland for the work of the Court.
Whilst in Dublin, the President also met with judicial authorities, including Chief Justice O’Donnell, Justice Donnelly and Justice O’Malley. They discussed the importance of the independence of judges and lawyers. She also met with the Attorney General, Mr. Rossa Fanning, for technical discussions related to the ICC’s mandate and recent developments in international law.
During her visit, the ICC President also visited the Criminal Courts of Justice.
