Mr. Bruno Cathala, Director of Common Services of the International Criminal Court, received on Monday a high-level delegation from Norway, headed by the Minister of Justice, Mr. Odd Einar Dørum.

The Minister was accompanied by the Norwegian Ambassador to The Netherlands, Mr. Jan Flatla. Other members of the delegation included Mr. Jørn Holme, Deputy Minister of Justice and Police; Ms. Ingelin Killengreen, National Police Commissioner; Ms. Kjerstin Kvande, Assistant Director General of Public Prosecution; and Ms. Yngvild Berggrav, Secretary of Embassy.

Mr. Cathala provided information to the delegation on the most relevant aspects of the ongoing process to establish the Court. Issues related to the efficient administration of international criminal justice as well as the setting up of basic systems to meet the requirements of the Statute of the Court and the expectations of the international community were raised. The need to find the right balance between costs and quality of justice was discussed.

Norway was one of the first States to sign and ratify the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court; and the first State to sign the Agreement on Privileges and Immunities of the ICC.
