French Foreign Minister visits the International Criminal Court in The Hague

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, Mr Michel Barnier visited the International Criminal Court today Tuesday, 19 April 2005. Mr Barnier met separately for talks with the ICC President, judge Philippe Kirsch, the Chief Prosecutor, Mr Luis Moreno-Ocampo and the Registrar, Mr Bruno Cathala.

The French Foreign Minister confirmed that France will continue to support the work of the International Criminal Court, especially following the United Nations Security Council resolution 1593 referring the situation in Darfur to the Court. He reassured them that the French Government is committed to pursuing ongoing cooperation with the Court and announced that, as it did in 2004, France will donate 150,000 Euros.
