Cooperation agreement between the Office of the Prosecutor and Interpol

ICC-OTP-20041222-85

A cooperation agreement between the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC OTP) and the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) was signed in Lyon today by ICC Deputy Prosecutor Serge Brammertz and Jean-Michel Louboutin, Executive Director of Police Services.

The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation between the ICC OTP and Interpol in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice. The agreement will enable the ICC OTP and Interpol to exchange police information and criminal analysis, and to cooperate in the search for fugitives and suspects. The agreement further gives the ICC OTP access to the Interpol telecommunications network and databases.

The International Criminal Court is an independent permanent judicial institution dealing with the most serious crimes of concern to the international community as a whole. Based in The Hague in The Netherlands, it was established by a multilateral treaty, the Rome Statute. The Office of the Prosecutor is one of the four Organs of the Court.
