Australia joins ICC Junior Professional Officer Programme

On 28 April 2023, Mr Osvaldo Zavala Giler, the Registrar of the International Criminal Court ("ICC" or the "Court"), and H.E. Ms Julie Heckscher, Ambassador of Australia to The Netherlands, signed a Memorandum of Understanding ("MoU") on the participation of Australia in the ICC Junior Professional Officer (JPO) programme.

The JPO programme encourages young professionals, with an academic degree and limited professional experience, to acquire hands-on work experience under the close direction  and supervision of Court officials and senior staff. JPOs are sponsored by their respective governments and recruited under bilateral agreements or MoUs between a donor country and the Court.
