Biography

Judge Clark was elected for a nine-year term from the Western European and Others Group of States (WEOG).

She was called to the Bar in Dublin in 1975 following her university education at Lyon, UCD, Trinity College and the King's Inns. She practised first on the South Eastern Circuit and then as Senior Counsel in Dublin from 1991. She had a comprehensive legal practice specialising in criminal law and medical negligence. She has acted for the families of the bereaved in many inquests and has represented the government in a large number of children's special needs cases.

While a Senior Counsel, she served on the Bar Council. She was one of the first Judges ad litem at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia at The Hague. While serving as a Judge at the ICTY she was elected as a Judge of the ICC.

Since her election, Maureen Clark has been engaged extensively in outreach programmes for the Court. She has travelled to Chile, the US, the UK and to several European capitals to address ICC issues with the judiciary, politicians, academics and students.
