Ag Abdoul Aziz, Al Hassan
Alleged member of Ansar Eddine and de facto chief of Islamic police. Alleged to have been involved in the work of the Islamic court in Timbuktu.
On 26 June 2024, Mr Al Hassan was convicted of the crimes against humanity of torture, persecution and other inhumane acts ; and the war crimes of torture, outrages upon personal dignity, mutilation, cruel treatment and passing sentences without previous judgment pronounced by a regularly constituted court, affording all judicial guarantees which are generally recognized as indispensable. He was acquitted of the war crimes of rape, sexual slavery and attacking protected objects ; and the crimes against humanity of rape, sexual slavery and other inhumane acts in the form of forced marriage. This judgment is subject to appeals. On 20 November 2024, Mr Al Hassan was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment.
Al Faqi Al Mahdi, Ahmad
Alleged member of Ansar Eddine, a movement associated with Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, head of the "Hisbah" until September 2012, and associated with the work of the Islamic Court of Timbuktu. Arrest warrant: 28 September 2015.
Charges: Found guilty as a co-perpetrator of the war crime consisting in intentionally directing attacks against religious and historic buildings in Timbuktu, Mali, in June and July 2012. Sentenced to nine years' imprisonment, the time spent by the suspect in detention being deducted from the sentence.
Found guilty and sentenced to 9 years imprisonment on 27 September 2016. On 25 November 2021, Mr Al Mahdi's imprisonment sentence was reduced by two years. The date for the sentence's completion is set to 18 September 2022. Reparations Order for victims pronounced by judges and is final.

Charges: Found guilty, as an accessory, of one count of crime against humanity: murder; and four counts of war crimes: murder, attacking a civilian population, destruction of property and pillaging, committed on 24 February 2003 during the attack on the village of Bogoro, in the Ituri district of the DRC. Case also involved charges against Mathieu Ngudjolo Chui but the 2 cases were severed on 21 November 2012. Mathieu Ngudjolo Chui was acquitted on 18 December 2012.
