The Office of the Prosecutor (OTP) is one of the four organs of the Court and is headed by Luis Moreno - Ocampo, the Prosecutor, who took office on 16 June 2003. The OTP is composed of three Divisions headed by Fatou Bensouda, the Deputy Prosecutor in charge of Prosecutions Divisions, Béatrice Le Fraper du Hellen, the Director of the Jurisdiction Complementarity and Cooperation Division and Michel de Smedt, acting Head of Investigations Division.
The Court has jurisdiction over genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by nationals of a State Party or on the territory of a State Party on or after 1 July 2002, the date of entry into force of the Rome Statute.
The OTP is currently investigating four situations: Northern Uganda (the case The Prosecutor v. Joseph Kony, Vincent Otti, Okot Odhiambo and Dominic Ongwen); the Democratic Republic of Congo (the three cases The Prosecutor v. Thomas Lubanga Dyilo; The Prosecutor v. Bosco Ntaganda; and The Prosecutor v Germain Katanga and Mathieu Ngudjolo Chui); the Darfur, Sudan (the three cases The Prosecutor v. Ahmad Muhammad Harun "Ahmad Harun" and Ali Muhammad Ali Abd-Al-Rahman "Ali Kushayb"; The Prosecutor v. Omar Hassan Ahmad Al Bashir; and The Prosecutor v. Bahr Idriss Abu Garda) and the Central African Republic (the case The Prosecutor v. Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo).
The OTP is currently conducting preliminary analysis of situations in a number of countries including Chad, Kenya, Afghanistan, Georgia, Colombia and Palestine.
