The Court and the African Union held a technical level seminar in Addis Ababa with staff from the African Union Commission and more than 50 State representatives representing 15 African States Parties. The purpose of the Seminar was for the Court to explain its work, with a view to fostering better understanding and enhancing cooperation, as well as continued dialogue between the Court and African Union. This event was made possible thanks to the organizational support from the African Union and funding from the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, Austria and Ireland.

The ICC’s High-Level Regional Cooperation Seminars aim to enhance cooperation with the Court by increasing understanding about the ICC’s cooperation regime amongst the invitees; promoting dialogue and efforts towards universality of the Rome Statute; and reinforcing high-level and technical-level contacts and partnerships amongst the Court and key interlocutors. Target audiences include Heads of State, Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Justice, and senior officials in charge of operational issues related to the ICC and/or international judicial assistance in criminal matters.
