Presidency of the Assembly holds retreats with the Court officials
The President of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute (the "Assembly), H.E. Ms. Silvia Fernández de Gurmendi (Argentina) and the two Vice-Presidents of the Assembly, H.E. Mr. Robert Keith Rae (Canada) and H.E. Ms. Kateřina Sequensová (Czech Republic) held two retreats with the three heads of organs and the Presidency of the Court on 18 and 19 March 2022, respectively, in Voorschoten, the Netherlands. Both retreats aimed at deepening understanding for the work of the Court and the Assembly and exchanging views and reflections on ways to strengthen the Rome Statute system at this crucial juncture.
The 18 March retreat was attended by the President of the Court, Judge Piotr Hofmański, the Prosecutor, Mr. Karim A. A. Khan QC, the Registrar, Mr. Peter Lewis, as well as the two Deputy Prosecutors, Mr. Mame Mandiaye Niang and Ms. Nazhat Shameem Khan. It provided an opportunity to exchange views on the priorities for the Court and the Assembly for 2022 and discuss internal and external matters of common interest, including governance and the working culture as well as initiatives to protect the Court and enhance international support and cooperation. There was also a discussion regarding plans for the commemoration of the twentieth anniversary of the entry into force of the Rome Statute in 2022, the twenty-fifth anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute in 2023, as well as the ongoing support of the Presidency of the Assembly and States Parties for the Court.
The retreat with the Presidency of the Court on 19 March, attended by President, Judge Piotr Hofmański, First Vice-President, Judge Luz del Carmen Ibáñez Carranza, and Second Vice-President, Judge Antoine Kesia-Mbe Mindua, allowed for an exchange of the views on the key priorities and expectations of the Court and the Assembly as well as to discuss the work of the Court's Presidency and its interaction with the Judiciary.
La Presidenta de la Asamblea de los Estados Partes en el Estatuto de Roma (la "Asamblea"), la Excma. Sra. Silvia Fernández de Gurmendi (Argentina) y los dos Vicepresidentes de la Asamblea, el Excmo. Sr. Robert Keith Rae (Canadá) y la Excma. Sra. Kateřina Sequensová (República Checa) celebraron dos retiros con los tres jefes de órganos y la Presidencia de la Corte los días 18 y 19 de marzo de 2022, respectivamente, en Voorschoten (Países Bajos). Ambos retiros tenían como objetivo profundizar en la comprensión del trabajo de la Corte y de la Asamblea e intercambiar opiniones y reflexiones sobre las formas de fortalecer el sistema del Estatuto de Roma en esta coyuntura crucial.
Al retiro del 18 de marzo asistieron el Presidente de la Corte, el magistrado Piotr Hofmański, el Fiscal, Sr. Karim A. A. Khan QC, el Secretario, Sr. Peter Lewis, así como los dos fiscales adjuntos, Sr. Mame Mandiaye Niang y Sra. Nazhat Shameem Khan. La reunión brindó la oportunidad de intercambiar puntos de vista sobre las prioridades de la Corte y de la Asamblea para 2022 y de debatir asuntos internos y externos de interés común, como la gobernanza y la cultura de trabajo, así como las iniciativas para proteger a la Corte y aumentar el apoyo y la cooperación internacionales. También se debatió sobre los planes para la conmemoración del vigésimo aniversario de la entrada en vigor del Estatuto de Roma en 2022, el vigésimo quinto aniversario de la adopción del Estatuto de Roma en 2023, así como el apoyo continuo de la Presidencia de la Asamblea y de los Estados Partes a la Corte.

عقدت رئيسة جمعية الدول الأطراف في نظام روما الأساسي ("الجمعية") السيدة سيلفيا فرنانديز دي غورمندي (الأرجنتين) ونائبا رئيسة الجمعية، سعادة السيد روبرت كيث راي (كندا) وسعادة السيدة كاترينا سيكوينسوفا (الجمهورية التشيكية) معتكفين مع رؤساء الأجهزة الثلاثة، ورئاسة المحكمة في 18 و19 آذار/مارس 2022 على التوالي، في فورشخوتن، هولندا. وكان يراد بكِلا المعتكفين تعميق فهم عمل المحكمة والجمعية، وتبادل الآراء والأفكار حول سُبُل تعزيز نظام روما الأساسي في هذا المنعطف الحاسم.
حضر معتكف 18 آذار/مارس رئيس المحكمة القاضي بيوتر هوفمانسكي، والمدّعي العام السيد كريم أ. أ. خان، مستشار الملكة، ورئيس قلم المحكمة السيد بيتر لويس، بالإضافة إلى نائبي المدعي العامّ، السيد مامي ماندياي نيانغ والسيدة نزهة شميم خان. وقد أتاح هذا المُعتكَف فرصةً لتبادل الآراء حول أولويات المحكمة والجمعية لعام 2022، ومناقشة المسائل الداخلية والخارجية ذات الاهتمام المشترك، بما في ذلك الحوكمة وثقافة العمل وكذلك المبادرات الرامية إلى حماية المحكمة، وتعزيز الدعم والتعاون الدوليين. كما جرت مناقشة بشأن خطط الاحتفال بالذكرى السنوية العشرين لبدء نفاذ نظام روما الأساسي في عام 2022، والذكرى الخامسة والعشرين لاعتماد نظام روما الأساسي في عام 2023، فضلاً عن دعم رئاسة الجمعية والدول الأطراف المتواصل لفائدة للمحكمة.
