Professor Liesbeth Enneking: “Private law enforcement of corporate responsibility for human rights violations Assistant”

Guest lecture:

Liesbeth Enneking is a research fellow at Utrecht University's Molengraaff Institute for Private Law. Her research focuses on the phenomenon of transnational litigation before Western courts against multinational corporations, and the opportunities and challenges this type of litigation presents for Western policymakers and systems of private law. Her dissertation entitled, Foreign direct liability and beyond - Exploring the role of tort law in promoting international corporate social responsibility and accountability, will be published in July 2012.  Over the past five years, she has published a book and various articles on this subject in international and Dutch journals. In her capacity as legal expert, she has been actively involved in the Dutch political debate on corporate social responsibility and fair trade, and has been a frequent speaker at conferences and research seminars in the Netherlands and abroad.
