Professor Leila Sadat: "The Crimes Against Humanity Initiative"

Leila Sadat is a Professor at the Washington University School of Law, where she is the Director of the Crimes Against Humanity Initiative, a three-year project aimed at drafting a comprehensive convention addressing the punishment and prevention of crimes against humanity. She is currently serving a chaired professorship at the University of Cergy-Pontoise in Paris. She holds graduate law degrees from Columbia University School of Law and the University of Paris I, and is admitted to the bar in both Paris and Louisiana. A leading authority in international criminal law and human rights, Professor Sadat is well-known for her expertise on the International Criminal Court. She was a delegate to the UN Preparatory Committee and to the 1998 Diplomatic Conference in Rome, and was a delegate for the International Law Association at the Kampala Review Conference. She is the author of numerous articles and books on international criminal law and justice, terrorism, French law and European Union Law.
