Mr. Leonard McCarthy is currently the Integrity Vice President of the World Bank Group, a position he has held since June 2008. The Integrity Vice Presidency’s mandate is to investigate allegations of fraud and corruption in Bank Group-supported activities, as well as allegations of significant fraud or corruption involving staff. From March 2003 until taking up his current post, Mr. McCarthy headed the Directorate of Special Operations in South Africa. Prior to his work in the directorate, Mr. McCarthy held numerous positions within the South African Government services, including an appointment as director of public prosecutions by then President Nelson Mandela.
