On 5 December 2018, the ICC States Parties elected five members of the Trust Fund for Victims Board of Directors during the 17th Session of the ICC Assembly of the States Parties, held in The Hague. The Board members are elected for a term of three-year period, from 2018 – 2021.

"We would like to express our appreciation to the ICC States Parties. We are deeply honoured by the Assembly's vote to elect us as the new Trust Fund for Victims Board of Directors. No form of justice is complete if the rights and needs of the victims are not fully taken into consideration. We are committed to ensure victim's role is at the centre of the Rome Statute system and ensure victim survivors are ensured their rights and needs of remedy for the harm they have suffered". - Trust Fund for Victims Board of Directors

The newly elected Board members held first meetings on 7 and 8 December 2018 and unanimously elected Mr. Felipe Michelini (Uruguay, representing the Latin American and Caribbean States) as the new Chair for the next three years. The Board discussed internal working methods as well as matters of priority attention, including strategy development, resource mobilization and organizational performance.

"It is a great honour and privilege to serve as the TFV Board Chair for the next three years. I thank my colleagues for trusting me in this position to lead the TFV Board of Directors. Together with my fellow Board members and TFV Secretariat, we will do our best to deliver on the implementation of the growing number of reparations awards and assistance programmes in the most expeditious and effective manner. I know we can count on the support of States Parties, the Court and our implementing partners to make reparative justice". - Felipe Michelini, Board Chair

In order to make justice a meaningful reality, the Trust Fund for Victims Board calls upon all States and all individuals, foundations and corporations to be mindful of the plight of victims who have and continue to suffer intolerable harms, and to commit their moral, political and financial support to the undeniable value of reparative justice for victims of the crimes included in the Rome Statute.
