President of the Assembly of States Parties welcomes Malaysia’s accession to the Rome Statute
The President of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute, Mr. O-Gon Kwon, today welcomed the deposit by Malaysia, on 4 March 2019, of its instrument of accession to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
President Kwon stated: "On behalf of the Assembly I wholeheartedly welcome Malaysia to the Rome Statute family and I congratulate the government and the people of Malaysia for this important step in combating international crimes in order to promote global peace and security. This commitment sends a strong signal to the Asia-Pacific region and the world, reinforcing the independent system of international criminal justice to fight impunity and prevent the most serious crimes under international law. I am looking forward to Malaysia's active participation in and contribution to the Rome Statute system, and a vibrant cooperation between Malaysia and the ICC. Hopefully other States will emulate Malaysia and also become a part of this system of international criminal justice."
The instrument of accession was signed by the Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Dato' Saifuddin Abdullah, and was deposited with the Secretary-General of the United Nations on 4 March 2019. The Statute will enter into force for Malaysia on 1 June 2019 in accordance with article 126(2) of the Rome Statute.
El Presidente de la Asamblea de los Estados Partes en el Estatuto de Roma, Sr. O-Gon Kwon, acogió hoy con satisfacción el depósito de Malasia, el 4 de marzo de 2019, de su instrumento de adhesión al Estatuto de Roma de la Corte Penal Internacional (CPI).
El Presidente Kwon declaró: "En nombre de la Asamblea, doy la más sincera bienvenida a Malasia a la familia del Estatuto de Roma y felicito al gobierno y al pueblo de Malasia por este importante paso en la lucha contra los crímenes internacionales para promover la paz y la seguridad mundial. Este compromiso envía una fuerte señal a la región de Asia y el Pacífico y al mundo, reforzando el sistema independiente de justicia penal internacional para combatir la impunidad y prevenir los delitos más graves bajo el derecho internacional. El instrumento de adhesión fue firmado por el Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores de Malasia, S.E. Sr. Dato 'Saifuddin Abdullah, y fue depositado en poder del Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas el 4 de marzo de 2019. El Estatuto entrará en vigor para Malasia el 1 de junio de 2019 de conformidad con el artículo 126 (2) del Estatuto de Roma.

تم التوقيع على وثيقة الانضمام من قبل وزير الخارجية الماليزي ، سعادة السيد داتو سيف الدين عبد الله ، وأودع لدى الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة في 4 آذار / مارس 2019. سيدخل النظام الأساسي حيز النفاذ بالنسبة إلى ماليزيا في 1 حزيران / يونيه 2019 وفقا للمادة 126 فقرة 2 من نظام روما الأساسي.
