Prosecutor to Present Evidence of Crimes in Darfur

Situation: Darfur, Sudan

On Tuesday, 27 February, Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo will submit evidence, in connection with named individuals, of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur. The Prosecutor will file his evidence with the ICC judges and then brief the press. Please note the following schedule of press events:  

14h00 hrs - Press Conference, ICC Media Centre.  The Prosecutor will summarise his evidence, discussing the crimes and the named individuals, and answer questions from journalists.

To attend the press conference, journalists must apply for media accreditation from the ICC no later than Monday, 26 February at 12h00. (Please see instructions below.)

Eurovision will broadcast the live press conference internationally via satellite. Specific instructions on how to receive the transmission will be provided in a follow-up media advisory on Monday, 26 February.

Web-Cast of the Press Conference in English, French, and Arabic will be available through the ICC website, www.icc-cpi.int.

15h45 - Conference Call with the Prosecutor.  Journalists who cannot attend the press conference at the Court may pose questions to the Prosecutor during a moderated conference call. To register and receive the call-in number, please contact public information liaison Florence Olara no later than Monday, 26 February at 12h00, [email protected], +31-70-515-8723.

Practical Information for the Media

Media Accreditation
All journalists wishing to cover the press conference are requested to submit the accreditation form to the following email address: [email protected] or fax +31 (0)70 515-8567. Journalists with permanent accreditation with the ICC do not have to submit the accreditation form, but are kindly requested to confirm attendance via email to [email protected]
The accreditation application period starts on Thursday, 22 February and closes on Monday, 26 February at 12h00. The results of the accreditation procedure will be posted on the ICC web site on Monday 26 February. Journalists are kindly requested to present a valid press card with a photo.

The Media Centre
The Court’s media centre will be open to journalists from 13h00 - 18h00 on 27 February.
The area can seat up to 64 people and includes: plasma TV screens; a Wi-Fi internet service; cards (plug + play) for those without Wi-Fi installation in their PC or laptop; 6 computers with internet access; 7 telephones for internal calls only, are free of charge.
Important: For external use, journalists are advised to purchase beforehand 0800 pre-paid phone cards available at newsagents and train stations in The Netherlands. Please note that phone cards cannot be obtained in the vicinity of, or at the ICC.

Parking Facilities
Parking facilities at Regulusweg and Wegastraat car parks are available for media representatives. Note: Journalists attending the press conference are kindly invited to use the public entrance located at Regulusweg.

ICC Audio-Visual
Live audio and video feeds in Arabic, English and French are available. Please note that there will be no floor audio-channel available.
Television crews will have a fixed position at the briefing room.
