William Pace is the Director of the Institute for Global Policy, which serves as a research, policy analysis, publications, and program development institute for WFM-IGP. Mr. Pace has been the general secretary for the World Federalist Movement-Institute for Global Policy since 1994, an international NGO promoting peace and democratic global governance. He serves as the Convenor of the Coalition for the International Criminal Court, a global NGO network comprising more than 2,500 civil society organizations in 150 countries. Recently, Mr. Pace helped to lead an effort with other major organizations in forming a global NGO network for the Responsibility to Protect norm.
Mr. Pace served as the Secretary-General of the Hague Appeal for Peace 1999 global conference involving more than 8000 NGOs and representatives of government and international organizations on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the First Hague Peace Conference. Mr. Pace was a founder of the NGO steering committee for the CSD and the NGO Working Group on the Security Council. He has served as Director of the Center for the Development of International Law (1989-94), as a director of the Human Rights Now Campaign and global concert tour for Amnesty International (1987-89). Mr. Pace taught history and astronomy at the high school and college levels in Colorado before his work at the international level.
