Thomas Mertens

Thomas Mertens is Professor of Legal Philosophy at the Radboud University Nijmegen, and Professor of Human Rights and Human Duties at the Philosophy Faculty of Leiden University. His research focuses on the relationship between morality and the law, primarily from a Kantian perspective, and addresses recent debates on human rights and responsibilities, global governance, and cosmopolitanism. He is also interested in transitional justice and questions of war and peace, and has recently published a book on the Eichmann trial and the controversial reporting by Hannah Arendt.
