Prof. Kathryn Sikkink

Kathryn Sikkink is Regents Professor and McKnight Presidential Chair in Political Science at the University of Minnesota. She holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Minnesota, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from Columbia University. Prof. Sikkink has specialized in human rights trials, international human rights norms and law, war crimes tribunals and transnational advocacy networks. She has published numerous articles on human rights and various other aspects of international relations and is the editor of “Restructuring World Politics: Transnational Social Movements, Networks, and Norms” (2002) and author of “Activists Beyond Borders: Advocacy Network in International Politics” (1998), “Ideas and Institutions: Developmentalism in Brazil and Argentina” (1991) and “Mixed Messages: U.S. Human Rights Policy and Latin America” (2004). Prof. Sikkink was awarded a 2008 Guggenheim fellowship for her work on the origins and effects of human rights trials in the world.
