Ms. Norul Rashid

Ms. Norul Rashid is currently a Human Rights Officer with the Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide (OSAPG). Before joining the United Nations, she served as a State Prosecutor in Singapore for eight years before taking up the post of Appeals Counsel with the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda (2000-2004). Ms. Rashid was recruited by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to head the secretariat supporting the work of the Commission of Experts to Review the Prosecution of Serious Violations of Human Rights in Timor-Leste and then worked as an expert consultant on access to justice for UNDP Indonesia. Ms Rashid then took up a post as the Head of the Human Rights Office in Northern Iraq for two years before joining OSAPG in 2009. Ms. Rashid has designed, organised and participated in numerous promotional and capacity building projects and activities for the last fifteen years in various parts of the world for UN colleagues, NGOs and civil society and government officials in the field of human rights, rule of law, international criminal law and litigation and more recently on genocide prevention.
