Eight Seminar of Counsel of the ICC & Training Program
The Hague | 17 to the 18 of May, 2010
In accordance with the provisions of Regulation 121.2 of the Regulations of the Registry, the Registrar is organizing the annual Seminar of Counsel, in order to continue the permanent consultation and dealings with the legal profession that has been one of our constant priorities since the genesis of the Court.
The Registrar is pleased to announce that in the tradition of last year’s event, the seminar will be followed by three additional days reserved for practical training. Similar to last year, substantive and practical information and training will be provided during the course of the three days.
The Eight Seminar of Counsel is scheduled for the 17 to the 18 of May 2010, with the 19 to the 21st reserved for the training program. The Seminar will be held in The Hague at the Kurhaus Hotel and the training will take place in the Court’s premises.
As in previous years, apart from providing an update on defence and victims issues, the event will explore topics of interest to the legal profession involved or interested in ICC proceedings. The trainings will focus on procedural and practical issues facing counsel representing the defence or victims before the Court and participants will be divided into smaller groups offering opportunities for more effective interaction and learning.
In addition to representatives of, inter alia, international legal associations, non-governmental organizations and ad hoc tribunals, the seminar will once again be targeted towards a most important constituency – members of the Court’s List of Counsel, created and maintained by the Registrar in accordance with Rule 21, sub-rule 2 of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence. At this juncture, the List of Counsel consists of more than 326 lawyers from all corners of the globe.
